Trust Your Intuition

Trust your intuitive senses. Years ago I was walking with my wife noticing all of the new cars on the road. Intuitively, I knew that the owners could not afford them. After doing a little research, I found that people were refinancing their homes and pulling out money to purchase luxury items. As you know the bottom fell out of the real estate market and their safe investment turned into a sour investment almost over night.

I had the same intuitive sense that the out of control national debt would eventually effect all of us. That was only 2 years ago. Now our nations credit rating has suffered and the stock market is tanking. It is down more than 600 points today and over 2000 points since mid July. Several older people who are on fixed incomes have shared with me how they now are facing years to recover their losses.

Get ready for a bumpy road ahead.

There is a small still voice whispering in your ear. It may be urging you to avoid something or take a second look at an opportunity. Your intuitive senses are not always warning you but they may be encouraging you to open new doors and explore the possibilities. Do your research and enjoy the benefits of making informed proactive choices.

Time will hone your ability to recognize that intuitive voice. You will make mistakes but that is part of the learning process.

Trust your intuition, do a little research and realize that you are your own best resource.

Network Marketing Sales Funnel The Bullet Points

Marketing Funnel – What’s next after the Headline?

Bullet points will make your opt-in page more attractive to customers.

When you are listing bullet points, you will want to focus on how your product will benefit your customer. A benefit is not a feature. A feature will describe your product. Where a benefit will show how your product if properly used will solve a problem the customer faces. You will want to have a list of 4 or more bullet points because it broadens the appeal of your product. Not everyone will be attracted to a single benefit and many may have not thought of some of the benefits you offer.

Here is an exercise to see how easy it is for you to identify the benefits of your product. List 10 benefits of your product. Then ask yourself, what are the top 5 benefits that appeal to you? Then you may want to ask, are these benefits strong enough to encourage a customer to purchase from you or seek more information?

• Bullet points will increase sales

• Bullet points connect with customers on an emotional level

• Most sales are motivated for emotional reasons not logical reasons

Find a sales page and break it down into all of its components. Try to identify the bullet points. Sometimes they are easy to find and sometimes they seem to be hidden like a ninja. Television commercials also have these components especially late night TV. When you are watching them, see if you can identify the emotional hooks. Those are the bullet points of the commercial.

You may want to keep a notebook by your side to keep a record of those emotional hooks, because, those emotional hooks have been researched by marketers being paid a small fortune to find out what works.

When you breakdown an opt-in page, look for these components:

1. The headline

2. A brief description of what you are offering as a solution to their problem

3. Bullet points – emotional hooks

4. Testimonials

5. Video

6. Call to action

Take your time and diagram several opt-in pages into their various parts. If you can master the opt-in page, your home based business will thrive and not just survive no matter the state of the economy.

Network Marketing Sales Funnel the Headline

In our last post we cover choosing and setting up an opt in form from Aweber or Icontact or any other of the many email marketing companies that are available.

Today we’ll cover headlines and the importance of how headlines draw your potential customers to buy from you or sign up to receive more information from you.

A headline can be as simple as the title of an email you are sending. The headline or title will determine whether or not a person will open your email. After a while, you can track the effectiveness of your headlines by using the tools in the back office of AWeber or Icontact. You will be able to find what works and what does not work.

Here is an example of a headline with a sub-headline to follow. The only thing you want a headline to do is to pique enough interest for the person to read more. You only have a second or two to grab their interest.

Some marketing companies spend as much time on coming up with a great headline as they do on the rest of the copy for the sales page, email or letter. So what I am saying is this, the headline is crucial to the success of all that follows. Make sure that all that follows the headline supports the headline or you will lose credibility with your readers.

Here is a simple exercise. Take the above headline and rewrite it for your specific product, opportunity or small business. In the future, you will want to do this same exercise with ads you notice online or offline.

Most serious marketers have what is known as a swipe file to stir up the creative juices. A swipe file is a compilation of headlines that grab your attention. For example, when you are in the checkout line in the store, what tabloid headlines grab your attention? The National Enquirer has made a fortune from headlines. You may also want to start a swipe file for email subject lines that grab your attention. Copy them and put them in a Word document for you to go over in the future.

Increase Profits by Eliminating Network Marketing Waste

The New Year is a time of evaluation for many people. Many set goals for the year only to last until they finish singing Auld Lang Syne. The most common resolutions are to lose weight, save money, start a new business, learn a new language and connect with friends. I’m sure there are many more that have not been mentioned.

Our focus in this post is to ask a few questions that will help you eliminate network marketing waste and increase profits for your network marketing business.

First you need to identify what is working for your business and what is not. For example, you may find that face to face interactions with customers are very fruitful or not as fruitful as you desire. You may find that you do quite well with phone conversations regarding business or not as fruitful as you wish. Both of these scenarios’ are common and with a little tweaking they can be improved greatly.

1. What areas are working well for you and what areas are not working well? How do you plan on improving those weak areas? Realize that a 10%, 20% or 30% improvement is like giving yourself a pay raise that can only happen when you are in business for yourself. How much would that be worth to you?

Secondly, what are you doing to attract new and old customers? Are your ad campaigns working well for you? Which ones are working well and which ones are not?

Losing ad campaigns can cost quite a bit. A yellow page ad that I ran years ago cost over $3000 per year. Yes, I would get customers but the cost to get that customer was too high for my liking. So I dropped the ad and got much better results from another source for 1/10th the cost. That was like putting $2700 in my pocket.

2. What areas of advertising are working well and what ads are not? Have you considered alternatives to what you are currently doing? What are the alternatives have you considered? Like the over quoted saying, "If you keep doing what you are doing, you are going to keep getting the same results you are getting."

One Word Network Marketing Theme For 2011

Because the purpose of this blog is coaching and encouraging others in their network marketing business, I will display challenges from time to time that will give you a pause to think and evaluate who you are and where you are going in life, business, relationships and your spiritual development.

This is my 2011 One Word Theme challenge

If you want to grow beyond who you are, you have to challenge yourself with things that are bigger than you are. Christine Caine has done just that over the last 2 years. Her video above explains the challenge she has undertaken.

As a result of Christine's example, I have decided my one word theme for 2011 is FREEDOM. So I'm excited to see how that will develop in all areas of my life.

Maybe this has caused you to consider a theme for 2011. I have found in order to make something happen, it is best accomplished by writing it down for all to see or telling others.

Where is your Home Based Business Heading?

It's not so much a secret to home based business success but it is as simple as being committed and persistent in your actions. Realize that like anything in life you must be committed to learning continually. You need to know your product and its benefits to your customers. You need to know where your business is going to be in the future. You must be persistent and consistent in your actions.

This is the time of year when you may be considering taking new actions for your business.

Here are a few questions to assist you in that quest.

1. Realistically, where would you like to see your business in the next 30, 60, 90 days?

2. Can you identify areas that you need to start learning to make that happen?

3. What actions do you need to take that you are not doing consistently?

4. Do you have a system in place to hold you accountable to taking those actions?

5. Does that system have built in measurements to show your progress?

After answering these 5 questions, you may want to write down your answers and post them in a place that is easily seen on a daily basis. The end result will be that you will begin to come up with a plan. A plan is like a map that you can use to find where you are and what it will take for you to get to your desired goal and measure your progress along the way.

Christmas Stress Relievers for Home Based Business

Well it's that time of year again. Christmas is just around the corner and life is getting crazy. Many people experience an increased amount of stress during this time of year. They are overwhelmed by tasks that need to get done. Such as, Christmas parties, buying Christmas gifts, entertaining relatives, making travel arrangements and many other social activities not to mention business activities.

I have seen this often during this season, tempers get short, time management is thrown out the window, so many other things take priority and marketing plans are ignored. As a result, sales and lead generation for your home based business is almost nonexistent.

By becoming proactive in planning ahead, many of these things can be avoided and your home based business can actually grow during the holidays.

Here are a few coaching questions to consider:

1. What are the major stressors for you during this time of year?

2. How do you keep track of all the social activities that are priorities for you during the holiday season?

3. What are the five most important events for you to attend?

4. How would you prioritize those events? Place a number one by the most important and a number five by the least important.

5. What are the most important business goals in the next 25 days? Place number one by the most important and so on until the list is complete.

6. What are the five greatest logistical problems that you face in the next 25 days? Who do you know that you can delegate as a solutions provider for these problems?

7. How do you feel you need to be a Santa Claus to those around you in your personal life and in your business life?

8. In what ways are you a Scrooge during this time of year? This is not an easy question to answer.

By taking a few minutes in answering these questions, it may be possible for you to reduce much of the stress and have a more joyful holiday season. You may also notice that your business will actually grow by delegating some of the responsibilities to others.

Take time every day to relax and clear your mind by doing an activity that can be relaxing. That activity may be taking a walk, listening to your favorite music, participating in a relaxing hobby or just finding a place of peace and quiet. Many times solutions seem to creep into my head during these times of relaxation. I hope the same is true for you.

The Perfect Lead Generation Machine

How do you build the perfect lead generation machine?

I know that most people in home based businesses are women. So, please insert a sewing analogy if you wish but I'm a guy and I think like a guy. So when you ask the above question, I think of tools, sweat and plans that take twice as long as expected.

First, you will need to take an inventory of tools and resources you know how to use.

What do I mean by tools? Social media has many tools for example, Facebook, Youtube, Linkden, Twitter, blogs, websites and email are all tools. They are no different than a toolbox with a hammer, screw driver, tape measure or saw. Just because you have them doesn't mean you can build something with them until you know what you want to build. Learning how to use just one of the above tools could take months but the pay off will be worth it.

What do I mean by resources? Resources can range from educational information, to experts, to clerical and business support. Out sourcing could be one of your greatest assets and save you both time and money.

Secondly, you will need a plan. It's not much different than building a house. Who would ever dream of building a house without contacting an architect for the plans. Mike Klingler has built a very profitable online business offering these services. His business model includes coaching, tutorials and in depth how to trainings.

Thirdly, you need to plan how your leads are going to flow through your marketing machine. You want to think through the "If this, then that will happen" scenarios. By taking the time to work through the planning stages, you wills be relieved to find that most of the problems would be resolved before they happen. That will place you in a proactive position rather than a reactive position.

This is no easy task and books have been written on each of the above subjects. So, this is just a starting point. Where are you in the process? Where would you like to be?

It is a fun camera to use and has plenty of room for retakes of videos that don't measure up. I'm so glad it has 2 hours of video space. But I do have to keep it away from my wife because my grand kids are so cute. I know what she is getting for Christmas.

Social media is leading the evolution of marketing and has changed marketing more in the last 5 years than has happened in the last 100 years. Considering that most of the people using social media are over 40, some of our thinking has to change also.

Twitter on Steriods - Fast Follow

Twitter rolled out a new feature called Fast Follow. Text "follow [twitter account] to 40404 (Twitter's U.S. shortcode) and you will immediately start getting that accounts tweets via SMS - without ever signing up for Twitter.

The application for network marketers is huge. Post a tweet on Twitter and all of your team members that have Fast Followed you will instantly see your SMS text message.

Here are some stats to consider. 90% of text messages are read within 3 minutes of delivery and 99% are read eventually.

It is a lot easier to have people text "follow [account]" to 40404 than it is to send them to some long URL they won't remember or visit.

Try it out. Send a text "follow mark_sinclair" to 40404 and you will will receive my Tweets about marketing.

Word Of Caution: Remember those who Fast Follow you will see all of your tweets. So be considerate and don't blow up their phones. That's bad PR.

What's Happening In Brazil

Techcrunch did an eye opening post on its blog that examined the growth of the internet in Brazil and South America Want to Tap into Brazil’s Money Spending Web World? Learn Portuguese or Move. The Authors Sarah Lacy and Paul Carr clearly show the benefits of doing business down south. They also explain the difficulties of those demographics.

How is this important to network marketers? Brazil does have a growing network marketing industry and they are spending time to learn internet marketing. I recently was speaking to a person from Brazil who had quite a few network marketing connections in Brazil. She was struggling to grow her business in the US but now has seen the possibilities in Brazil.

One thing you should know before jumping into the South American Market, you might want to brush up on your Portuguese. Yep, they trust those who share the same culture. They are hungry for opportunities. So don't limit yourself to just the USA.

The Second Question to Ask before You Start a Network Marketing Business

In the last blog post, we talked about What Do You Do?

The second question you need to ask yourself before you start a business is - Who Are You Doing It For?

When considering this question, try to visualize an image of your customer. You'll want to ask yourself in what income level are they living. What problem are they trying to solve? How serious is that problem for them? Will they pay money for you to help them solve that problem?

Remember, not everybody will be interested in your business so is very important to narrow your focus down to those who are more inclined to listen to you.

Are you thinking of starting a home business or network marketing business? Before you start, it would be wise to ask the following questions. The advantage of this Q&A is that you will be able to quickly see if the idea you're considering to throw everything into is likely to work.

You will need to define what products or services the present business provides. Many new network marketers make the mistake of trying to be all things to all people. It's Not about the Features Silly. It's about the Benefits

Just because a cell phone has video features does not mean that somebody is going to use it.

The simple truth is people are looking for something that is easy to use without jumping through a lot of hoops. They do not want to spend hours on the phone with a tech support person just to get things up and running. We live in a plug-and-play society. Easy is better. That is where the Apple IPhone 4 has hit a homerun.

The Iphone 4 has a video feature that is easy to use. All you have to do is hit one button in the middle of a call and the video feature works. Round wheel.

With the Android phone, you have to sign up and download a third-party application and then launch it every time you want to talk. Square wheel.

Most people will not do that. They would rather push one button and have it work than jump through hoops.

Learning the difference between a feature and a benefit is crucial. The developers of the Apple IPhone understand that . The Android developers are more concerned with the feature.

• A feature is just something that your product has. It could be the color of the products. It could be the design of the product.

• A benefit is what the product does for you and what problem it solves for you. It could be how easy it is to use, how much time it saves you, the ability to connect with others easily or what a thorough job that it does.

Once a customer has determined the benefit of a product they will then look at the features to make their buying decision.

So many people in network marketing are focused on features of the opportunity or the product and not the benefits that the customer is seeking.

Until you can make a switch in your perspective, you will continue to struggle and be frustrated. WHat is your perspective? Square wheel or round wheel marketing?

Don't Let Your Age Get In The Way

I tweeted this today and it gave me pause to think.

Does your age become a barrier to your online business?

Yes, most bloggers are in their 30s or younger but that does not mean you have to throw up your arms and give up. You just need to reposition yourself.

People in their 50s or older have a lot to contribute. And those with any sense know that with age comes experience.

Recently, Dirty Wally asked me to help him with a book about his life. He is 90 years old and is a professional gambler. He has received 5 marriage proposals this month and he is also a professional actor. Wally is quite a character and has developed a skill that few possess. The ability to read people.

Now, who could benefit from learning that skill? I know a few network marketers, home based businesses and small businesses that could learn a thing or two from him.

Don't let your age get in your way. Reposition yourself. You have a lot to offer.

FaceBook Changes Fan Pages To Like It Pages

Some like it and some don’t! But it is something you are going to have to get used to.

Just a couple of days ago Facebook updated its Fan Pages and changed - the become a fan button - to a- LIKE IT button. You may be thinking, how does this affect me? Well, if you have articles, videos or web pages about Facebook fan pages, this might affect you.

One thing you may want to do is include the new keyword – Facebook like it page – so that in the future Google will recognize it and direct people to your information. You will also want to keep that in mind when recommending people to become your fan. There is no place on your former fan page that has a Become A Fan button instead it has been replace with a Like It Button.

If a person clicks the Like It Button, you can still stay in touch with them through updates, notes and all of your other postings.

So, when viewing our tutorials on Facebook fan pages, think of them as Facebook Like It pages now.

Why is this important now? With the economy in the toilet, people are primed for exploitation. Let’s raise a few caution flags and share them with everyone. It has been said that the network marketing industry will spin out the bad apples and most companies will not tolerate shady representatives. BUT in the mean time, some will get away with exploiting the fears and dreams of those who are desperately seeking a financial solution. That is where the damage is done.

Who Needs A Coach? Just Ask Tiger Woods

When it comes to online marketing, there is so much information that it seems like heaven. It is like a kid in a toy store. You may enter in looking at all of the possibilities and be paralyzed by all of the choices.

I am now a grandfather and former preschool teacher and I found that if you give little ones too many choices the end result is information overload, paralysis and frustration. In many cases this will result in a total melt down on your part or your child’s.

Last month I focused on helping you set up your first newsletter. I hope that you found connecting with your business partners and customers encouraging.

I know from experience that coming up with ideas and information can be a challenge. I have found that if you are doing all of the work by yourself it is ten times harder. Short videos can have a great impact. Have you ever wondered why anyone would spend millions on Super Bowl ads? Because, they get results!

Although your videos may not be seen on the scale of Super Bowl ads, they will be seen and have the results you have planned for them.

The video below was designed to give people a glimpse of my life and was made with Animoto. I like Animoto because it is fairly easy to use and produces great videos. Try it out. They have a free version.

These short videos are great for landing pages, emails, blogs, social sites, uploading to Youube and websites. They can be used for many purposes like product reviews, sharing About Me information etc...

Helping Others Succeed Adds To Your Success

What was the saying made popular in the Robin Hood Story? Rob from the Rich and give to the poor. That was Robin Hood's life mission. His fight was against social injustice in England and my fight is against similar injustice in the business world. Thousands have lost their jobs in the last year with more to follow. Many are over 50 and though our country has anti discrimination laws, ask them how easy it is to land that job when you are competing with people half your age. I hear it all the time.

Do you have a plan B? If you are considering starting a business from home, do you have the skills that this century expects? That is exactly why these tutorials are being offered.

Social media used to be the newspaper. I still remember my dad getting the paper before work and glancing at his favorite sections before going to work. Today, newspapers are on their way out along with their advertising.

Business is changing in the same way. I used to pay for Yellow page ads that cost over 3000 dollars a year. Now I use social media that gets 10 times the results for a tenth of the cost.

Kids these days are using cell phones as mini type writers. The Red Cross has found that by telling the younger generation to text a certain code they can contribute to disaster relief. As a result they are able to collect more donations. With the IPhone and Droid Phones kids have instant access to the internet from anywhere at any time.

Small business has to keep pace or someone else will. That is why we are offering these tutorials. We are featuring FaceBook, Twitter, Tweetdeck, Squidoo and newsletter tutorials with more to come.
