The Insiders Secrets of Qualifying a Network Marketing Lead
There is a temptation to take any network marketing lead as a business partner. I had a friend who would take people off the street, pay their sign up fee and hope they would be the answer to his business. This is a desperate strategy. Your business must not be based on desperation. Warning: If your lead doesn’t have an interest to learn about your business, give them a little information and let them go. Contact them in a couple of months by postcard or phone call. Many times their situation may have changed. Remember you don’t need them. If they have a problem and you have the solution, they will realize their need and seek you out as a remedy. They will need your information. Give it out as necessary but not all at once. With the proper marketing strategy, your network marketing lead will move from not interested, to mildly interested, to moderately interested, to interested, to very interested, to serious. If you learn the Secret of Qualifying, your business will take on a new look. Leads will be calling you. You will be more productive with less effort. You will be working with a higher quality person. What is qualifying? Qualifying is interviewing a prospect. It is asking the questions that nobody is asking. Would you hire someone on your job without asking at least a few questions? We need to qualify on interest, time and budget. You don’t want to work with people who don’t meet your qualifications. You might ask your lead, “What is going on that brought you to look at network marketing?” Listen carefully, take notes and make sure they know you are interested in their answers. Focus on them and not your agenda. Here is a list of questions I would ask your network marketing lead: What would you like network marketing to accomplish for you? What would you like to see in your business in the next 3, 6 or 9 months? Do you have any business experience? Have you thought about what kind of a budget it would take to run your business? (Office supplies, postage, travel, advertising, marketing, training, etc…) Note: You will need a budget of at least $200 per month to succeed. Do you have 10 to 20 hours to commit to your business per week? Anything less places them in doubt. They may need more information on why it takes that much time to operate their business. When I started my business, on a scale of 1 – 10 my commitment level was a 50. Let me ask you, “On a scale of 1- 10 how committed are you to make this happen?” If they answer low, ask, “What would it take for you to be an 8, 9 or 10?”
Note: If your network marketing lead does not meet your criteria of qualification, don’t force them. Don’t be afraid of disqualifying them and let them know why. It is about their best interests not yours. Realize that the qualification process can take weeks if not months. It is a matter of getting the appropriate information into their hands.
